JOHN DANIEL ABAD, MD

Surgical Oncologist

Expertly trained in the latest surgical techniques, Dr. John Daniel Abad is a board-certified surgical oncologist who has conducted years of cancer research to provide his patients with the most complete, healing care available. Prior to joining Cancer Care Partners, Dr. Abad completed a surgical oncology fellowship at The University of Texas
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
 
Dr. Abad received his Bachelor of Science from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., where he acquired several scholarship awards and graduated with Departmental Honors of Highest Distinction. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University in Chicago. Following graduation, he completed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and awarded multiple Resident Teaching Awards. He then fulfilled a fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md., and moved on to complete another fellowship in surgical oncology at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
 
Dedicated to research and ongoing education, Dr. Abad has authored numerous publications and given presentations throughout the United States on topics ranging from the role of gene therapy in targeting tumors to the treatment of metastatic colon cancer. His specific areas of clinical interest are in the multidisciplinary care of gastrointestinal malignancies, especially gastric, hepatobiliary and pancreas cancers.
