Clinical Trials
Together, We Provide Another Option for Advanced Treatment.
Clinical trials are a type of study that tests how well new medical approaches work in people, and are conducted on a voluntary basis to meet the specific needs of our patients. Through various types of trials, these studies test new methods of screening, prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cancer, as well as test new ways to stop or reduce the side effects of conventional treatment. Some clinical trials only include patients who have not yet received treatment. Other trials test treatments for patients whose cancer has not gotten better. Typically, participation in clinical trials requires no additional out-of-pocket expenses for enrolled patients and all follow strict safety and ethical guidelines.
Clinical trials have contributed to major medical breakthroughs in cancer treatments, and are often conducted in collaboration with cancer centers, academic institutions and national consortiums, including the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group, American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, Clinical Trials Support Unit and Hoosier Oncology Group.
Clinical trials are an important part of treatment at Cancer Care Partners, and we will talk with patients about a clinical trial if they could benefit. Although we offer the best current therapies, we realize that by participating in a study, our patients could further benefit from an advanced form of treatment only available within a clinical trial.
